The Tampa Theatre is a nonprofit, historical theatre and significant cultural landmark in Tampa, Florida. Constructed and opened in 1926, the theatre was designed as an atmospheric-style film palace. In 1978, after hosting performances by many famous artists, the Tampa Theatre was named on the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, the theatre remains a common venue for film productions, music videos, and local shows. Playing the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ as an opening to nightly films, the Tampa Theatre places great importance on culture and continues to uphold its artistic traditions, even while it undergoes a variety of changes with time.

What are the highlights of the Tampa Theatre?
Inside the Tampa Theatre, there’s the visage of a romantic Mediterranean courtyard as well as a resplendent starry ceiling to admire, and it's full of ancient statues, intimidating gargoyles, and an array of flowers. Ageing upholstery is consistently restored, with faded and worn tapestries being replicated for visitors to examine and original tapestries being transferred to the Tampa Bay History Centre for better preservation.
In addition, the theater’s carpet, seats, and drapes were replaced to most closely resemble their original look from 1926. Electrical systems were also updated to include emergency power and storm protections at the Tampa Theatre, enhancing digital output for further enjoyment.

What else is good to know about the Tampa Theatre?
The Tampa Theatre can seat up to 1,238 guests with space and comfort. The lobby and the auditorium’s orchestra level are wheelchair accessible, but there isn’t an lift. Many aisle seats are marked with the International Symbol of Access, with swing-away armrests to help guests transfer to and from a wheelchair.
The Tampa Theatre is by the Glazer Children’s Museum and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The Glazer Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing a safe and imaginative learning experience for the community and features many innovative and spacious exhibits. Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is a high-quality, exceptionally maintained park with kayak rentals available to explore Davis Island.
