Had a great time at this traditional Japanese ryokan. Owner was very helpful and friendly, as was the cleaner during the few times we spoke. I was a bit worried about the noise levels with the thin paper windows, but with double-glazing and a mosquito screen in place, noise from the street was non-existent. Location couldn't have been any better: walk out the front door and within a matter of seconds you're on the main street leading to Kyiomizu, aside from Gion Corner, probably the most attractive area of Kyoto. All in all, a great experience. Only slight downside was when a tour group of around 4 young women arrived and were stomping around till the early hours of the morning. They quickly moved on though, so can't complain. Great stay and would repeat again.
