Firstly, I’m a veteran traveler, with a very forgiving nature. But this was an unfortunate experience. The proprietors demand a portion of the payment in cash, which felt strange to me. There is a really lovely Egyptian lady who greeted me at the door, told me to remove my shoes before entering to take my payment And showed me the room. It really feels more like a rooming house than a hotel. I know there have been generous people review this place kindly, but my experience was negative. There is an open kitchen on the second level with seemingly local people playing loud music and yelling. The room was at the end of the hallway and had no heat during a cold November day. I actually left And booked a proper hotel. For somebody looking for an inexpensive room, this might be suitable. I left the key on the doorstep, and the owner had my number and rather than offering me a rebate was harassing me for an extra $60 because they couldn’t find the key. It does not feel good to have to leave a negative review. :-( it felt like the owners live in the basement possibly and also there is a real Whiff about the place.
