I recently stayed at the Wayfinder Newport with a large group, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations or justify the high cost. While it’s clear they’ve done some renovations, the property still has the feel of an old, worn-down motel, and the updates seem only partial. Our group was split between rooms, with some in renovated spaces and others in outdated, musty rooms with old, dirty carpets.
The rooms lack basic amenities like drawers or closets – a setup that might work for a quick stay, but for longer visits, the “Moxy-style” approach of keeping everything in your suitcase just doesn’t cut it. WiFi didn’t work any of the nights, and our AC broke down, which made it uncomfortable, especially since there was no phone in the room to call for assistance. We had to use our cell phones to contact the front desk, which, in fairness, was helpful, but it still added to the frustration.
Overall, this property feels overpriced for what it offers, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s simply not worth it, especially if you’re planning an extended stay.
