While the front desk staff and management were very friendly, reception & breakfast room were well-maintained & clean, brekkie decent, our room (a Cottage King, ground floor) was not just dated but needed a proper spring cleaning and improvements to electricals; bathroom, sink area, bedding, chair were spotless but as we had to move a bedside table to connect devices to the limited outlets we could see that behind the furniture had dust bunnies that looked like they'd gone weeks if not months without vacuuming back there; one outlet was broken - it worked, but the faceplate was unsightly. Fridge was very loud. HVAC unit lifted the curtains when on, letting light in - every other motel we've stayed in that uses this 'thru the wall below the window' format has either had curtains hung within the windowframe rather than on the inside of the wall or a plastic 'shield' installed to ensure airflow is directed below the curtain hems. We're organized enough to bring bulldog clips to ensure we can connect/weight down ill-fitting curtains, but anyone without such would have to choose between using HVAC and having curtains constantly flaring up so passers by could look inside, or else not using HVAC at all! Biggest issue was 'old bones' of the building - we heard every footstep taken by folks above us; not an issue at check-in as they went to bed about the same time as us so we didn't ask to change rooms, but even with earplugs we were awakened before our alarm next AM!
