Ok rooms, beautiful gardens, hotel needs rehab
This hotel has alot of old world charm and the outdoor grounds are lovely. The Japanese gardens had beautiful gardens and waterfalls eith koi fish. The views of the lake are wonderful. The pools are nive. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, fairly clean. The interior of the hotel itself was not very clean and in need of upgrading. Pretty sad that the front glass doors to the hotel were dirty. There's no excuse for that as the workers can clean them easily. The carpeting on the stairs to the 2nd floor was stained. The service was ok, nothing exceptional. The doorman could have held the front door open for people as there is no automatic door opener. Instead, he stood at his desk inside, waiting for people to come to him when they needed help.
We ate dinner at the main restaurant. The pasta primavera and jalapeño cheese grits were good. The cleanliness of the restaurant was poor. There were dead bugs in the windowsill. The vinyl on the chairs was torn.
I think the hotel was recently purchased. I hope the new owners can rehab it so its original beauty and high standards are restored.
