Trying but not trying enough
The housecleaning staff has a lackadaisical attitude toward thoroughness - after guest complaints and after checkups by two senior staff members - the servers in the dining room would deign to serve you if you ask repeatedly and make sure you understand that they are sincerely unwilling. But the managers are trying and seem genuinely wishing to improve - or they tell me - and it remains to be seen whether the hotel is able to pull itself out of 56-years of inattention. Would I stay there again? I honestly don't know because there are, after all, many other choices in that price range.
