8/10 Very good

Hotel under renovation.

Hotel was undergoing room renovations, the pool was out of service for the 2 days I was there. The front desk staff were helpful and quick to remedy any issues.

The room itself was fine but the front desk staff basically ignored us. The breakfast was really limited and the only coffee was in the lobby far away from the dining area (after having to wait for them to make more). Other than the room the hotel was looked really neglected and run down.

This place it really run down. There was no security, doors from exterior had no lock, the gate to the fence was missing. There were no towels, even 3 hours later after they were requested.

Staff was friendly. People crawling in and out of open widow on 1st floor. Security risk? Run down condition. Smell in room. Desk chair kept flopping backwards. No support. I won't be returning.
Clay, 1-night trip

The sheets and pillowcases were stained. A throw pillow was torn. There was no carpet in the room. The room appeared to have been broken into from the hallway, and possibly from the adjoining room.

car port falling down, was told no extra towels for pool, loud R rated rap music blasting poolside from unsupervised tweens who also had two dogs roaming off leash inside pool gates, Very load AC units, pool patio area with tables smelled like ash tray, lady that checked us in complained she got called into work and ‘put on the desk’ as she checked us in, never stay here

Pretty Rough

One of the only times I didnt feel safe in a hotel way to many pitbulls behind the front desk and walking around the hotel off leashes, staff acting like it was there home with there friends coming and going went to the first room and someone was still in the room lady at front doors begging for hand outs and then walking behind the front desk to go to the managers office and she sat down and was watching tv

The sheets were dirty there were no towels and had to wait for someone at front desk for 15 min at checkin and then again to get towels. The slider to the pool didn’t open the fridge wasn’t plugged in and smelled horrible.

HORRIBLE

This place is anything other than a hotel. The photos are misleading because this place is in horrible shape with Do not enter signs and out of order signs on everything. I'm surprised the city has allowed it to operate. People are living here with bbq grills and grocery carts in the hallway! We decided to at least look at the room where there was no toliet paper and decided to leave even though we had a no refund policy. It was worth it to save our lives and our security. DO NOT RESERVE HERE!

This was a horrible run down property. It has not been maintained in a long while. Staff was rude, wouldn’t allow us to change rooms. They claimed it was the only room available, although the parking lot was empty. AC didn’t work on a 91 degree day. I cannot believe it’s rated 3 stars. Also, if you’re going to be on the second floor, pack light. There is no elevator.

Awful Awful Awful

This property is awful. There are no smoking signs everywhere, but there was the reek of smoke throughout the property and butts all over our back door. Staff members were yelling and arguing when we tried to check in, fighting in the hall, smoking at the back doors, and were eating the breakfast while we waited to make a waffle. Room furniture was broken, hall carpet was stained and smelled disgusting, dogs everywhere… This was absolutely awful! Never again!!!!

It's a mess!

Our first room had the air conditioning broken and in pieces. Our second room had no blanket, no shower curtain, no towels, broken lamp, broken electric outlet, broken trim with water damage, dirty soap dish and dirty sheets and what appeared to be vomit on the stairs. A very nice lady came and changed the sheets and brought us linens. It was not a good experience other that her kindness.

Meh

Just an really old, tired hotel. Smells like smoke, rugs should have been replaced 20 years ago. Our room had a broken board on the wood that kept scraping my foot. The place was full of homeless lookibg people, so I was concerned about the satety of my vehicle. Basically, if you can afford better, try to get another place. I will say that I appreciate the workers there. I had originally booked a room with 1 king bed, this was going to be way too small, so we asked to be moved to a room with 2 queens. The workers found us a room, they were appreciated

I had to change rooms twice due to the first room not being clean and the second being not safe. The lock was broke and the back door was propped open with many people in and out. Third room was ok, only had one towel, sheets on the bed were put on wrong and it looked like maids only clean partially on what was used. Very unsettling there and a lot of rif raf in and out of the building. The police came by twice and still I did not feel safe what so ever. I will never stay here again. The lady at the desk was great given the fact that the maids left her with a ton of rooms not clean. I don’t leave reviews usually but this hotel takes the cake on being un clean, unkept and very unsafe.

Horrible Hotel

I checked in at 1:30 am. The hotel is run down and in ill repair. The outside doors are broken so not locked. There were sketchy people all around outside, it was noisy and smelly outside and inside. The sheets, pillowcases were dirty-no one had cleaned the room as there was no staff to do laundry or housekeeping. The room smelled, the air conditioner was loud and ran all night keeping me awake. The shower did not work so I didn't need towels I didn't have. I called hotels.com to complain and cancel the stay for me, which they did and red lion still charged my credit card for 4 nights even though I left and went elsewhere. There was no one at the front desk all morning when I left to confirm the cancellation.

Would not recommend Red Lion

When we showed up it looked from the outside almost abandon. We were given a 2nd floor room and on the way to the room the carpets were dirty and the ice machine was out of order. They don't have an elevator so it took a few trips on the narrow set of dirty stairs. When getting into the room which looked like nothing had changed since the 70's there was a torn condom wrapper on the floor. We pulled back the sheets and there were hairs. A pillow had blood on it and it was clear housekeeping never changed the sheets. The whole experience was overwhelming for my wife and we checked out right away. The person at the front desk was nice and understood the situation apologized up and down and she had a disappointed look on her face. We mentioned the bad experience we had to our server after we checked into another hotel and they said, "Was that at the Red Lion?" I guess locals know of the conditions of the Red Lion.

They had the softest most comfortable bed I've ever slept on in a hotel!

Needs exterior and interior work. Hallways are filthy, and the room wasn't much better. Looks closed as you drive up. Looks like a homeless encampment back behind the property. Not pleasant.

Floyd, 1-night trip

used to be a red lion

Seems to more of a long-stay boarding place than a motel. Pool was nice, room was roomy and clean, dogs in other rooms barked most of night, dog poop around some entrances. most cars in parking lot look old and wornout. carry ear plugs. Breakfast is cereal, cereal bars and a waffle maker. If something runs out, that's it for the morning. In a word: overpriced.
allyn, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

I think Expedia is remiss in not mentioning that less than 1/2 of this property is even open. I showed up at sunset and thought the whole place was abandoned - concrete barriers out front, maybe 2 cars in the parking lot! That's as close as I've come to checking into the "Hotel California". Staff was nice, but whole place needs to be updated.
