Historic building = awesome! Upkeep of historical building = not so good. Love the old buildings so I adjust my expectations because they aren't perfect, but this one made me sad.
Lady that checked me in was not even close to pleasant. She also was the only person checking people out and was equally unpleasant then too. She should not be client facing. She did not seem to realize she was in the hospitality business. Check-in area is a hall, with almost nothing to sit on while waiting. Generally the historic property was run down. (Shame on Holiday Inn.)
My room was even more run down. Missing quarter round trim, chipping plaster, obvious water damage in bathroom...and the jetted tub was DIRTY. I had to clean it before use. The 4th floor window had water damage and the wood trim was swollen because of it. The wood floors were so uneven I had to tape the drawers shut! The bed was comfortable and clean but also creaked due to the uneven floors. All of this was almost comical. Luckily, I am used to camping, so I stayed. LOL.
Location is the best thing going for this property. Lots of food, drink and entertainment within walking distance.
I would only stay here again if I had no other choice other option. Do better Holiday Inn.
