Amazing foyer, so grand, but once you leave the open public areas you quickly see the lack of investment. The corridors are dated, and our room was basic and clearly not updated in a very long time. No plugs next to the bed, lamps wired directly into the walls and no main light in the room. The duvet had a hole in it. Lack of plug sockets in general, thankfully we brought a power bank. The bathroom was poor, the bath was chipped and clearly very old, the shower was connected to bath taps, the mirror had no anti-mist, toilet paper was clearly the cheapest they could buy, and the bathroom door and frame had been painted over so many times it was difficult to close it. There were marks on the doors possibly due to damage from previous guests. The room was clean and smelt nice as we entered. There was a window panel missing from the inner panels, resulting in noise from the street below being quite loud.
Overall it is such a shame that there is chronic lack of investment as the building itself is gorgeous, but my word the rooms are a world apart from that area.
Thankfully we paid just £50 for a 1 night stay, anything more and I'd be asking for a discount to be honest.
