In August 2024, we spent five very comfortable days here, opposite the many reviews we had been warned about.
The five of us arrived at 2 p.m. from Japan, received a friendly explanation from the front desk staff, and headed to each room. The rooms were classic but compact in the British style. They have excellent wifi and a soft bed. There was a shower room with a shower outlet fixed to the wall top instead of a bathtub and a very small sink.
If you use the shared cooking room, the foods are available to cook purchased at a nearby supermarket.
We could also use the free laundry and a powerful dryer to wash clothes that day. The room was cleaned twice during our stay, which made us feel good. However, one room did not have a chain key on the inside of the door, so if you are concerned about this, you should ask the front desk.
It is in a perfect location, close to the city center, Courtenay Place, Manners St, the bay, and the National Museum. It is in an excellent location, compared to the low room rate. Check-out on the last day of our stay was at 10:00, but we could leave our luggage at the front desk until 4:00 p.m. when staff was on duty, and then we could head home comfortably. We will want to use it if we come back to Wellington again.
