I don’t like to spend time writing reviews unless it is really complimentary to the experience, but I am leaving a negative review for the first time - not by choice but because my experience was THAT negative.
From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by the most unfriendly person at the desk. The most kind and helpful staff were on the Breakfast Floor (P5).
Our room was horrible, and our booked stay did not include anything it should have.
We booked through Expedia, which I have been a Platinum Member for a long time as a world traveler. Expedia stated that we should have a free upgrade and bottle of wine available upon our arrival. Instead, we were told that the rooms were fully booked without even checking or thinking for a second. The man at the desk even told us that our room was amazing and that we should like it. Not only was that man absolutely unwilling to help us, but he was also extremely wrong. Nothing about our room or stay at Hotel Stendhal in Rome was luxurious.
Our room was incredibly small and loud. The room is not at all quiet/sound-proof or comfortable. Rather, the room was dirty, dusty, and echoed all noise from the hallway and street outside. After two nights, we never received any upgrades or our promised bottle of wine. Housekeeping also did not clean our room or replace any of our towels, toiletries, etc.
This hotel took all of the money without any service in return. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will not be back.
