We recently stayed at Fairfield Inn and Suites in Liberty, MO, from October 11 to 13, 2024. As frequent travelers and part of the travel industry, we’ve come to expect a certain standard from Marriott properties. Unfortunately, this stay didn’t live up to those expectations.
Let’s start with the positives. The hotel itself appeared clean, and the common areas were in good shape. It’s located in a convenient spot near Liberty, MO, with easy access to highways and local attractions, including Kansas City. If you’re looking for nearby spots to visit, 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar is a great place for a casual meal, and you’re not far from Kansas City attractions like the Ewing Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden. So, in terms of location, the hotel gets a thumbs up.
Now for the negatives. Upon check-in, the front desk staff wasn’t particularly welcoming or friendly, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. During our first night, we had issues with the TV in our room. After calling the number for tech support and following their instructions, they referred us to the hotel’s front desk. A staff member came to our room with another remote, turned on the TV, muttered, “Batteries probably dead,” threw the remote down by the TV, and walked away without a single word of apology or goodbye. This interaction felt unprofessional and frankly rude.
