I really liked this hotel, starting with my arrival – 2.5 hours before check-in – when I found that my room was already available and I had been upgraded from a single room to a double. The location was easy to reach by car and parking was problem-free. Once I arrived, I did not use the car because the hotel was close enough by foot to many sights (e.g., 15 min. to Hallgrímskirkja, 20 min. to Lækjartorg in the heart of the business district). The room was tastefully furnished and very clean and quiet, despite being close to the elevator and facing the street. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I also appreciated the in-room safe, a wardrobe with ample storage, the many electrical outlets and good lighting (except for the area near the desk, where the task lighting could be improved). There were blackout drapes on the windows which would be essential during the middle of the summer. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet (3590 ISK) was outstanding with organic eggs, local bacon and sausages, several excellent cheeses, great pastries and several Icelandic specialties such as rúgbrauð (rye bread), herring, skyr, etc., as well as standard items such as cereals, fruits, etc.
