Expedia has taken my money, the hotel claims to not know anything about the booking, and I have to pay the full amount again. Pure Robbery, either by Expedia or by the Hotel. This is the second Expedia booking in Peru that has failed -- and each time I have to pay over again, despite reference numbers and payment to Expedia. I hope to recover the money, but what hassle upon arrival!
