We recently stayed at Spayhiti and were somewhat disappointed by our experience. The main contributing factors for this was the cleanliness of the hotel, the condition of the beach, and the breakfast meals.
Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by the staff who offered us breakfast while we waited for our room to be ready.
Once we entered the room, several hours later, the garbage had not been taken out from the previous guests and we believe the bedding had not been changed because we saw blood stains on the sheets. Also, our "premium bedding" were two small blankets. (The bed was quite comfortable which was nice). We were hopeful they would be changed in our next daily cleaning, but the trash was not taken out until the end of our 3 day stay and the bedding wasn't changed at all. The entrance of our room smelled strongly of pee, bugs were everywhere, and we saw lots of animal fecies in multiple areas outside of the guest house including the dining area.
The beach, being right next to the river, had litter everywhere on the sand and the water.
Now about the breakfasts provided - My husband and I both got severe food poisoning from eating breakfast and chose not to eat the next day. When we checked out, we were asked to pay for the meal we had when we first arrived (which we thought was included in our payments) even though we hadn't eaten for one of the days - we felt this to be very cheap of them. The staff were nice, but we would advise others to look elsewhere.
