This is a small hotel along Douro River where we stayed just for a couple of nights before Christmas. The place was initially difficult to identify for taxi driver and by asking some locals, the hotel was found nearby a big stone Objet close to the river. It is located along a small corridor parallel to the populated river walk with many restaurants.
We were welcomed by a nice manager/concierge who was so willing to explain anything we like to know about, and taken to the room on the 4th floor; it was pretty spacious, very clean and with bright windows through which the river and the counterparts were so beautifully viewed. The room was equipped with kitchenette, oven and so forth. The structure is something a nice modernized renovation for an old stone house with a new elevator, wooden floor and old-stone walls interrupted with wooden plates.
Breakfast was served in a buffet style at a room with wide windows and was quite satisfactory with freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly prepared coffee and ample choice of foods.
Porto is a city with numerous up-, downhills, and narrow steep streets just like Alfama and you need a good locomotive function to explore the city.
Anyway, we spent a night in a fado house, Tipico o Fado, which was located approximately 15 minutes of walk uphill from the hotel. Two women singers and foods were unexpectedly very good and waiters were quite attentive for the service.
