6/10 Good

Serive itself was good however room 15 was grubby with stains everywhere on the window and seat side, then the bathroom had spots of mold and a poorly designed door that cramps you in to close it. Room fan was an absolute joke and mrs and i were constantly uncomfortable in the room the whole time daytime and nighttime

Friendly staff

I appreciated the staff. Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was very tasty. The room was clean and had the amenities we needed. Clean. Hotel is within walking distance of many things to see in Plymouth. The history of the hotel is quite interesting.

The hotel location is great to Plymouth attractions. The staff were very nice and friendly and the services were nice except the shower which was very bad because of the weak water pressure.

For the price that you pay, this hotel provides a good level of accomodation with a great breakfast and super staff. There is a lounge and bar. Brilliant location near the sea and easy to walk to Barbican. We will be back next year Ken !! This time with more volleyball players who are keen to stay

Great Hotel

Excellent family run hotel close to Plymouth Hoe, local restaurants and amenities. Friends welcome and excellent breakfast. Only negative was the £10.00 per night parking charge, which I raised with the reception on check-in. I later discovered street parking outside at £2.50 per night.

Looked like the hotel hadn't been refurbished for many many years. My colleagues who stayed there asked not to be booked in to that hotel again
Anthony, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Probably wouldn't go back

Room was OK. Small and high. A bit of a funny smell. Breakfast was nice and waitress friendly and effective. Check-in surprisingly lengthy and inefficient for a simple transaction. Not happy with parking. Hotel advertises parking available; they don't say that they will charge £10 per night for this. And anyway on the first night, it was full, so I had to find on street parking and pay for that.

Don’t waste your time

In my opinion, the whole point of a hotel is to get some sleep, have a shower, and a hassle free overnight stay When I arrived after driving for about 6 hours, I parked my car in the car park, to be told that it was ‘Full’. I was asked to park on the street and pay £15 for parking on the street. To make matters more fustrating, the three spare car parking spots which were there when I arrived were free all night and in the morning when I left. I had to go out for food (Not an issue personally) after being told there was a restaurant at the hotel, and then had to leave my key at the hotel, which didn’t provide much comfort when all of my work IT equipment was left in the room. My room had a flashing red light, which kept me up until about 4:30am where I hit exhaustion and was able to sleep through it. On top of the red light, the walls were paper thin and I could EVERYTHING in the rooms next to me. To top it all off, my two shower temperatures were either Baltic freezing, or at its hottest, room temperature water. The breakfast was a saving grace and was genuinely really good. All in all, staff weren’t the friendliest, place needs a massive overhaul to modernise slightly, and really disappointed. Location is spot on, but would not spend more than £40 to stay here again.

Not a luxury 4 star hotel

What can I say? Don’t judge a book by its cover. The building looks very elegant from the outside, but that’s where it ends. As soon as you step inside the hotel, you’re greeted with a very dated look. The whole house feels “wonky”. Floorboards keep moving under your feet. No lift, so if you’re given a room on the top floor, good luck! Room was just as “wonky”. Floor in the bathroom wasn’t level, so felt you were walking down a hill. WC took 5-10 minutes to re-fill! Shower head dirty. No fan in the tiny bathroom and we couldn’t open the window as it been painted over, so impossible to open. Bedside table was leaning forward, so some of my items slid off! Bed light above the bed was hanging off the wall. Breakfast was ok. Parking onsite behind the hotel. Just don’t bring too big a vehicle or you won’t make into the parking lot! Best thing? Location! Just a few minutes walk from the Hoe, but apart from that, nothing else. Needless to say, we won’t be returning to this (what is in our opinion) a 2 star hotel!
