We weren’t made aware during booking of the ongoing renovations, and though this didn’t impact our stay, it was handled poorly - empty boxes piled in the hallways by the elevator and mattresses taking a ride with you in the elevator.
Now for the real problem (which was appropriately handled by Hotels.com, thankfully).
Day 1, evening: puddles on the bathroom floor coming from a leak in the sink. Water was taking a while to drain from tub, but it did go down, very slowly, eventually.
Day 2, morning: puddles on the bathroom floor + clogged toilet.
Day 2, evening: puddles + clogged toilet + water in tub wouldn’t drain without manually holding the drain plug up.
We checked out real early on Day 3, having need to use the toilet now in the lobby and just ready to get out of this place!
And yes, I brought it to the attention of the front desk. I didn’t make enough of a fuss, maybe, because I wasn’t taken seriously. I don’t scream or nag - just express my issue.
The first day, the front desk clerk simply jotted notes and said she would send someone to take care of it. Later, at the desk again, a manager said that he didn’t have anyone available for maintenance at the moment. In the end, no one ever came to, at the very least, unclog the toilet.
Also, when asked for some resolution or compensation for the inconvenience, I was told to contact hotels.com. The hotel itself could not handle the issue for me. Thankfully, Hotels.com addressed the issue promptly upon our return home.
