Aston Islander on the Beach is a beautiful property literally on the beach. Rooms were spacious and clean. But I can’t recommend it due to the rude, unprofessional front desk staff. We had to wait over an hour for our 3 rooms (after the 4:00 pm check-in time), and when we asked why, they said they need more time to clean the rooms, and ‘we had over 35 people waiting for rooms on Christmas so be grateful it’s not that bad’. Telling me it could be worse is not great customer service. But it gets worse: our 3 rooms were at opposite ends of the complex, which took 45 minutes for us senior citizens to haul the luggage to each room. After returning the cart to the lobby, they told me I couldn’t leave it there, it’s not their responsibility so I needed to take it to the other entrance (uphill around the building). It appeared they were angry that we asked for a credit for waiting for the rooms, which they did give, but when I returned the cart they said they needed the ‘complimentary’ coupons returned before they could issue the credit. So I went back to all the rooms & collected the coupons, went back to the lobby, and since there were guests checking in, waved my arms to get another clerk’s attention. She loudly said ‘just shove them at me why don’t you!’. So frustrating. So I snapped and told her ‘you should take care of your own luggage carts!’. As I was leaving the lobby I could hear the clerks making fun of me to the other guests. They even canceled one room the next day!
