There are plenty of Bali charities you can contribute to, from animal welfare to social foundations focusing on children’s education. While the island is best known for its fantastic beaches and luxury resorts, there are communities in remote areas in need of support, as well as underprivileged children and disadvantaged people that could use a helping hand.
You can get to learn about wildlife rehabilitation by joining a turtle hatchling release or visiting a shark nursery to learn about blacktip reef sharks. If you’re looking to contribute to responsible tourism during your holiday, check out our guide of good causes to give back to in Bali.

Bali Sharks (Serangan Shark Project)
Bali Sharks gives you a rare chance to safely swim in a shark nursery off Serangan Island, which has over a dozen blacktip reef sharks. Started as the Serangan Shark Project, it was founded by Hawaiian surfer Paul Friese, who’s also a conservationist committed to these sharks.
Thanks to a collaboration with the Gili Eco Trust, Bali Sharks has released numerous rehabilitated sharks around the waters of the Gili Islands. Proceeds from eco-tours, merchandise and book sales go to the funding of the on-going efforts.
