Beneath Victorian-era arcades, hidden laneways reveal street art masterpieces and tiny cafés where baristas discuss coffee like sommeliers talk wine. The Queen Victoria Market buzzes with vendors selling everything from kangaroo jerky to vintage vinyl. At Federation Square, the angular architecture houses galleries displaying Aboriginal art beside the serene Yarra River. Cricket fans make pilgrimages to the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground, while theater-goers flock to shows in the East End. SEA LIFE Melbourne's underwater tunnels bring you face-to-fin with sharks, and Crown Casino's riverside complex dazzles with restaurants rather than gaming tables. "This is a nice hotel that offers great location clean and tidy rooms The breakfast was excellent We have stayed here on numerous occasions Great value for money"
Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Little Collins by IHG
"Hotel was quite good, with some quirks/problems. Room was very clean, well-appointed and a good layout. Bathroom was very modern with a good-sized shower, room had both a desk and a couch-like chair for relaxing spaces other than the bed. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was pretty solid (quite busy, but plenty of food and pretty decent quality), and the gym is pretty decent and available 24 hours. However, the experience was not perfect. Most prominently, the bed was quite bad, being somehow too firm and too springy at the same time, made worse by awful pillows (the soft may as well have been empty, the "firm" was still comically soft). Likewise, the kettle in our room was the only kitchen appliance available but it was slow, loud, and spilled water every time we used it. Also, the shower was large and okay to use but getting the water in a human-habitable temperature range was an exercise in frustration. Overall, very solid hotel in an absolutely incredible location, but not without it's drawbacks."
ibis Melbourne Hotel and Apartments
"The food was neutral."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Melbourne

For visitors on a budget, spending at least 2 to 3 days is ideal for discovering the city's key landmarks, historic sites, and cultural attractions. During your visit, you can enjoy urban environments, shopping districts, notable architecture, dining experiences, art scenes, family-friendly venues, business centers, skyscrapers, museums, and sports facilities—all offering great value for money.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers a range of hotel deals in Melbourne. To find attractive options, visit the Deals section and explore last-minute offers in the Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window area. You may discover discounted hotel rooms that suit your travel needs. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you're more likely to see flash sales and special offers. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool in the app helps you compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you keep up with opportunities to save on your Melbourne getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary based on factors such as a hotel's location, star rating, and season. Being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your Melbourne hotel stay. Boutique hotels may offer a more personalized experience and sometimes better value for those interested in unique accommodations. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below average, and if it appears higher, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually tend to cost more, but thanks to Melbourne's excellent public transportation, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further out that’s still well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there's often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations can offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
