I surprised my wife with an overnight stay to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in this beautiful auberge in its extraordinarily lovely surroundings. It's about the best location one could wish for in Franschhoek - your own little farm, with vineyards and fruit trees to wander among, and only a ten minute walk into town (but if you're visiting Franschhoek, you're probably in a car anyway). We've lived in Europe and enjoyed some of the best of France - this auberge could be set in the loveliest French countryside you could imagine.
Everything about our stay was perfect. Our hosts kindly sourced a bouquet of flowers for my wife; we drank a full bottle of their wonderful Sauvignon Blanc, made on the farm, on our terrace for sundowners; the breakfast was lovely; and our hosts were wonderful. Of course we stayed in the honeymoon suite, in an old wine cellar, and it was beautiful in every respect.
It's also perfect for families, with self-catering options, a swimming pool and tennis court, great cycling (mountain bike and road) from the gate. Fortunately, not too much accommodation available - it's an auberge, not a hotel - so one gets to enjoy the environment in peace and quiet. Can't recommend it enough.
