Overall the Best Western provided a good base from which to visit Wellington. It's about a 20 minute drive along the motorway to reach the city centre and it's key tourist locations - but you have free on-site parking and no premium city centre prices.
The room was spacious with a decent sized and comfortable bed, a table and a couple of chairs, plus a sofa. En suite bathroom with shower.
Catering facilities were limited to a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle - but only plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs and glasses (no cooking utensils or dishes for the microwave) - fine for cereal and toast for breakfast.
There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance and also a few places to eat : we can recommend the Hyderabadi House Indian restaurant.
The motel is not visible from the main road into Johnsonville, (it's really an anonymous looking block) and is reached up a small service road next to the KFC on the corner and then a turn that leads to the rear of the Fire Station (no call-outs during our three night stay). Parking is in bays underneath the motel.
It backs on to State Highway 1 (a dual carriageway) and our room on the second floor overlooked this (but unless you open the windows they do a good job of keeping out the traffic noise - didn't affect our sleep).
Daily room servicing amounted to resupply of toiletries and tea bags, etc. not making up the bed.
Although the BW doesn't look much, it provided a clean, comfortable, practical and good value stay.
