Centro Histórico San Jose del Cabo charms visitors with cobblestone streets lined with colonial buildings housing vibrant art galleries and boutique shops. The 18th-century Mission San José anchors this cultural heart, while Plaza Mijares buzzes with local energy. Thursday Art Walks transform evenings into open-air celebrations where you can meet artists and browse their work.
The neighborhood serves up delicious traditional Mexican cuisine alongside upscale farm-to-table restaurants. Boutique hotels in converted colonial buildings offer intimate accommodations with courtyards and rooftop terraces. This walkable district lets you explore everything easily on foot, though sturdy shoes are recommended for those historic cobblestones.
Zona Hotelera hugs the coastline with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez. Spend your days lounging on pristine beaches, playing championship golf courses, or booking sport fishing charters from the marina. The natural beauty of San Jose Estuary offers a peaceful contrast to resort life, while Plaza Mega Comercial Mexicana handles your shopping needs.
Upscale resort restaurants serve fresh seafood with ocean views, though you'll need a rental car to explore beyond your hotel. Most accommodations feature multiple pools, spas, and private beach access. The area maintains a relaxed atmosphere with contemporary Mexican architecture and meticulously landscaped grounds.
Downtown San Jose del Cabo charms visitors with colorful colonial streets and authentic Mexican character. The iconic Mission Church stands proudly over Plaza Mijares, where weekly Art Walks showcase local talent in numerous galleries. Cobblestone pathways lead to bustling markets filled with handcrafted treasures, from silver jewelry to traditional textiles.
The neighborhood offers delicious Baja cuisine and fresh seafood at plaza-side restaurants with mariachi ambiance. While limited lodging exists in the historic core, the area is wonderfully walkable with most attractions just steps apart. Taxis and local buses easily connect downtown to nearby beach areas.
Costa Azul's golden beaches and world-class surf breaks make this San José del Cabo neighborhood a paradise for wave chasers and sun worshippers alike. The famous Zippers break hosts international surfing competitions while scenic coastal walkways offer spectacular whale watching during migration season. Between surf sessions, visitors can stroll along the shoreline or dip their toes in the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez.
Resort restaurants and beachfront palapas serve fresh seafood with ocean views just steps from the hotel. Most visitors stay in the beachfront properties that line the shore, offering infinity pools overlooking the water. A rental car is the best bet for exploring beyond the resort zone, though most beach attractions are within walking distance.
Imagine strolling along Puerto Los Cabos for some great waterfront pics. It's located 1.8 mi (2.9 km) from central San José del Cabo.
If you carry on walking you'll get to La Playita and San Jose Estuary for some more water views.
If you can't wait to get to the beach, you might enjoy a trip to Costa Azul Beach located 2.3 mi (3.7 km) from central San José del Cabo. Catch the sunset by the shore at El Zalate Beach, just a short walk away.
If you want to give your credit card some exercise, head out to San Jose del Cabo Art District in Downtown San Jose del Cabo. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is family-friendly and has lots of nice beaches. It's also full of great shops and restaurants, so you can spend the afternoon having a wander. Splash some more cash at Plaza Artesanos.
When the beach is calling your name, you might want to head down to Palmilla Beach, located 3.2 mi (5.1 km) from central San José del Cabo. If you want to continue walking by the waves, head to Costa Azul Beach located nearby.
Socorro Island is 4.1 mi (6.6 km) from central San José del Cabo, why not stop by during your stay. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is relaxing and has lots of nice beaches. It's also full of great shops and restaurants, so you can spend the afternoon having a wander.
You might want to practice your swing at Club Campestre Golf Course, a golf course located 1.8 mi (2.9 km) from central San José del Cabo. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is family-friendly and has lots of nice beaches. It's also full of great shops and restaurants, so you can spend the afternoon having a wander. You might want to play some rounds at Cabo Real Golf Club, located 6.4 mi (10.4 km) from central San José del Cabo. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is family-friendly and has lots of nice beaches. If Cabo Real Golf Club doesn't quite scratch your golfing itch, Palmilla Golf Club, and Querencia Golf Course are also nearby.
Watching humpback whales breach from beachfront bars feels almost unfairly commonplace in this seaside retreat. The historic Art District reveals a sophisticated side, where galleries showcase local talent between colonial buildings painted in sunset hues. Golf courses perch dramatically on oceanside cliffs, challenging players to focus on their swing rather than the spectacular views. Unlike its rowdier sibling Cabo San Lucas, this city maintains a dignified charm with cobblestone streets and family-run restaurants serving the day's catch. Costa Azul Beach attracts surfers while Palmilla Beach offers calmer waters for swimming. Visit the Thursday evening Art Walk when galleries stay open late and artists mingle with visitors over complimentary wine.
Great hotel, with amazing service and very good facilities but if you are looking for a nice beach this is not the place - the "swimmable" beach is very small and full of rocks. Food is good but too expensive.

We are world travelers, stay in only the finest resorts and are among the most selective (read "picky") guests. That being said, Las Ventanas is an absolute paradise. This was the most amazing property I’ve ever been to for every reason. There was natural and architectural beauty, the rooms were amazing with huge ceilings and floor to ceiling windows,
and a plunge pool. This is the first time I’ve actually spent quality time in my room.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay immensely. This is a jewel of a place. We had an oceanfront room on the second floor with a good sized balcony. Very well appointed room.
The service was great, the people so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is outstanding, with great food and a large staff. It seemed like we had 4 or 5 people waiting on us. Grito and Angel were as good as any I have encountered.

All Casa Natalia employees were friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy and they told us where we could park our car. We enjoyed our little patio in the morning. A few weeks before our arrival they helped us schedule a COVID test. The doctor arrived on time, as scheduled, and it was an easy process. Wonderful staff!
