Very convenient location and the staff very friendly ❤️

Dirty rooms and showers. A LOT of homeless all around the building, screaming and playing music at night. No light in the hallways. Feels like a homeless shelter. Old and very rusty building with paint peeling from the walls.

Basically at the middle of the downtown perfect place to go to Embarcadero north or South Mission St. I’ll be back for sure

Its quaint for how old the property is. It could use some updates for sure. The rooms are very small compared to newer establishments so be mindful of the age of the building. If you want friends or family to have easy access to your hotel, that will not be as easy - the front door is locked so the hotel staff must unlock the door for you and your people.

They dont have internet wifi… Front dest duty at night during our stay was not helpful… The fire alarm keeps on beeping the whole night…

Well.....this hotel is very old and has nothing other than a bed and a shower. 3 rooms before I got a TV that worked. Outside is very seedy and I had to ask a neighboring business where the place was. In the absolute worst part of San Francisco. No parking so I parked in a seedy lot around the corner and walked with my roller bag in and out of a couple of hundred people all wacked out on drugs and who knows what else. Absolutely not a safe place to stay!

Property was overall a good place to stay. Staff was kind and responsive. The room was decent, clean, and has a retro style. I was happy with my stay.

If you want a classic old school in sf downtown, it s here. My room had classic marble fixtues with a serious commercial toilet. My room was brilliantly lit. The bed was firm just the way i love it. The staff are o polite and old school. The place alive with antiques. They dont have breakfast so who cares? Go to the donut place close by.

This is an old hotel in the Tenderloin and it feels like it. But the staff are above-and-beyond cool and my 5-day stay felt a bit like coming home to family whenever I dropped off or picked up my key.

The staff were very friendly, and even though it may feel like an unsafe area outside, the place is safe and there were no issues at all.

Decent stay. Close to convention center and other hotels. Great price and walkable to almost everywhere. The neighborhood outside is a little rough and very active all night. I didn’t mind the noise, but some might.

My father and I stayed at the hotel for several days while visiting San Francisco. This hotel was a time capsule. We met the owner several times and he has done his best to keep the hotel in its original condition when it opened in 1912. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and well managed. Outside the hotel was a bus stop and subway station. If you are looking for a simple quaint hotel this fits the bill. Thanks

A charming vintage property with polite and helpful staff. Don’t come here if you all the bells and whistles of a corporate chain; come here if you want to go back in time 100 years and bathe in a claw foot tub and show your kids what a pay phone looks like. Don’t worry, sheets are new and clean, towels are replaced daily, and it’s a comfortable stay. That said, San Francisco has a large unhoused population, and this neighborhood isn’t immune.

Great Hole in the Wall Hotel

The hotel is very nice. Front desk is friendly and room is nice. My only complaint is more about outside. Market street is super loud at night so it’s hard to sleep. Parking is also kinda hard so be prepared to move your car or possibly park in a garage.
