Bask in the California sunshine at Coronado Beach, where the historic Hotel Del Coronado stands like a Victorian wedding cake by the sea. The world-class San Diego Zoo houses creatures in such natural settings you'll forget they're exhibits. Balboa Park combines Spanish Colonial architecture with museums that could occupy days. Bay Club Hotel & Marina
"enjoyed being able to have a drink and dinner without leaving our hotel. Breakfast was also very good"
Sheraton San Diego Resort
"This is a beautiful hotel that hardly has any rooms with a bad view! The rooms are spacious, beautiful, and well equipped. We loved the large pool areas, one for family and one for adults only, that have jacuzzi's and corn hole and an outdoor bar for drinks and food! They also have an enormous gym with spa like bathrooms, and lots of activities like bikes & water rentals. A great hotel for vacation, or if you're like us, a great hotel for a "stay cation"!"
Bahia Resort Hotel
"Nice location, beautiful views, but somewhat older buildings. The rooms could use an update, but they were clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful any time we needed anything. The on-site restaurants and staff were actually very good, albeit somewhat expensive (but it's a resort so that's expected). The gym was very small, but worked fine for us since it was not crowded. The gym never had any hand sanitizer though and rarely had disinfecting wipes for the equipment."
The Dana on Mission Bay
"Beautiful property, but it was SO big, we drove to the on site laundromat with our sailing clothes that needed to be cleaned before our next sailing lesson the next day Loved the hotel. We will return!"
The Sofia Hotel
"The stay here was pleasant and in a great location. Staff was accommodating, room was clean, property was kept clean. Rooms were quiet, no issues with noise as mentioned in some negative reviews. Nice bar downstairs too."
Handlery Hotel
"Great large property. Lush garden setting with resort style pool with a drink and snack bar with great happy hour specials. Rooms are a little older style but have patios or balconies which was nice and clean and comfortable with all you need. And staff was great, very helpful."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in San Diego
- Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit San Diego is during January, November, and December, when hotel prices are generally lower. For those looking to explore the city's rich history and vibrant culture, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is ideal. This timeframe allows visitors to experience key landmarks such as the famous zoo, local museums, and theaters, along with beautiful beaches and the stunning waterfront. Traveling during these months offers great value for money, making it an excellent option for anyone on a budget. Plus, prices may drop even further, enhancing the affordability of your trip.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to San Diego, head to the Deals or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel options as your travel date approaches. To maximize your savings, enable email alerts or push notifications for flash sales and exclusive last-minute promotions. Additionally, you can utilize Smart Shopping, a comparison tool within the app that helps travelers compare hotel prices and amenities. This way, you'll be promptly notified if prices drop or new rooms become available, allowing you to seize the opportunity for a spontaneous getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates could help you find a better deal on your stay in a San Diego hotel. If you're interested in unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalized experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is higher than usual, we can suggest alternative dates that might help you find a more affordable option.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to San Diego's great public transportation system, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that still has good connections. If you're interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, you’re likely to find excellent value. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
