The rooms were very small. They were clean. The owner wipe water from the floor with a towel which was the same type in the room. I wondered if the guest towel are used for the same purpose. The towels were very thin. There was rust on the faucet to the sink in the pool area. I had a three night. stay but checked out after one night. I would not recommend this hotel.

As a loyal Hotels.com customer, I rely heavily on reviews. The more someone can know about a property, the better. First, the positives. This property is in a really good location and has awesome views from the pool area, not so much from the rooms. The owners are also very nice and accommodating. That said, the following is important to know if you are considering a stay. We had one of their 2 largest rooms. By my estimation, it was about 165 square feet, which is small. Case in point, our refrigerator and waste basket were on the front porch. There is also not a lot of attention to detail when it comes to maintaining the property. There was a fair amount of leaves and dirt around the common areas and the pool was dirty. There were hoses that were laying out the entire time we were there that we had to step over to enter our room. There were also ladders and other equipment in the common areas that just doesn’t make for an inviting space. Specific to our room, we had to shut our AC unit off at night because it made a whining sound that made it difficult to sleep. All in all, this property just didn’t seem to have a level of care and upkeep that you would expect.

The owner was nice and wanted to help make our stay nice, but he couldn't hide the fact that the pictures he took to 'sell' the place were very generous. Literally the best example of good lighting and strategic camera work to make a run down place seem nice online. Dirty kitchen. Run down front desk. Literally have to walk up and down 101 steps to get anywhere. Our taxi driver had to drop us off 1,000 yards from the place.

The pictures did not do the place justice. The stone stairs that you had to take if you wanted to walk anywhere or incredibly inconvenient. The bed is very hard and when I said something about this to the host, they did not offer anything. I had to ask for an extra comforter to put down to even make this day, manageable. Also, I read on three or four different websites that this place had bed and breakfast. When I arrived, I asked the host that gave us a tour of the place and she stated that they had not done that for a while over a year. I was very disappointed. The pool was very dirty and the place was just not what I was expecting. I will not be staying here again.

The place it’s beautiful. Close to everything and you can walk everywhere. The stairs are a workout, but necessary to stay in shape😂. Mark was superb, courteous and helpful. I recommend “At Home In the Tropics” for a quite, walkable, clean and friendly place to stay in St. Thomas!

Property was quaint with an incredible view of the harbor. The room was very clean and was freshened up daily. Owners were very friendly and so accommodating. It was wonderful to have beach chairs, towels, beach blanket, cooler etc provided. The area was very quiet but close to shops and local vendors. Would absolutely stay here again.

Mark and Jess were both so nice to us and went way above and beyond! We had an early excursion and they found us a taxi that was willing to wake up early for us…but also promised to drive us if they taxi slept in! Breakfast was great every day and the view is amazing! Great location to downtown where you can walk to in 5 min or so. They also just bought Hotel 1829 which is close by and that looked very nice as well! We plan to go back.

Perfection

This b&b exceeded expectations. The owners could not have been more kind or accommodating. The daily breakfast was delicious, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the location was great and their dog gave us so much love & tail wags. Their front office had snorkels, sunscreen, bug spray, beach towels, they have thought of everything. We will 100% stay here or at their new Hotel 1829 on a future trip! Thank you, Mark & Jess!!!
