Fantastic!

I haven’t had the chance to stay in a hotel since 2008 and although this was only 1 night away, it was great. The bed was so comfy and the room was quiet. I only wish I could come back more often but due to financial burdens due to a death in the family it’s unlikely I’ll get away again anytime soon. I’ve recommended the hotel to my family and friends and I imagine they’ll be booking soon. Parking is often an issue with city hotels, but there was ample space and it was secure. The staff were lovely and couldn’t have been nicer. The hotel is a credit to its chain and if an opportunity arises where I’m able to get away again then I’ll definitely be coming back. It’s easy to find, perfect for acting as a base for the area and is comfy and quiet.

Our standard room was smallish but worked fine for a couple and it was very clean. The reception staff were very helpful when we requested an early check-in to get ready for a wedding. The thing that let the whole thing down was the breakfast experience. The food was of very poor quantity and there was not enough available when we first got to the buffet. It took a manger to make an appearance before more hot food was made available. We paid £100 for the night and I would expect better quantity ingredients to be used for this price point.

I recommend this hotel

the hotel is clean and beautiful I forgot to include breakfast and wanted to add it after I paid for the accommodation The receptionist was very nice, however at breakfast she wanted our 16-year-old daughter to considered as an adult and to pay in full. The heat was not working in one room, but a radiator was immediately brought to us and it was fine , a very nice staff . The hotels.com company through which I made the accommodation was disappointing I called them to pay for breakfast, being a family with 4 children, the oldest 16 and the youngest 2, and he asked me to pay over £80. Of course I refused.

Not up to expectations

So many negatives about our stay... it was the first time in years that i even requested compensation it was so bad. First, we specifically requested this property because the Hotels.com said the room had a fridge. None of the rooms at this hotel have a fridge. We booked for 4 people, but our room was prepared for only 2. We had to wait for about 45 minutes for linens to be brought and the sofa bed prepared. It was already quite late and having to wait that long was uncalled for. While waiting we observed that the mattress was truly disgusting with big bodily fluid stains covering both sides and a 10 inch gash on one side. The floor was also unbelievably filthy. Thankfully, the linens appeared clean and the shower worked well. The A/C worked, but it produced a loud, high-pitched whine that was intolerable. We were unable to sleep with the noise and chose to endure the heat resulting from record high temperatures. The room itself was incredibly cramped with about 18 inches between the bed and the furniture. The desk chair provided did not fit under the desk and had to be put by the door so we could walk through the room. Noise from the hallway was much louder than should be expected. Fortunately, the on-site bar had sufficient libations served with a smile to help lighten our mood. Nonetheless, we are glad to not be returning to this hotel.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Room was very comfortable and clean and had an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. A great hot breakfast, which was buffet style. Arriving back very late from a wedding reception, snacks were available near the front desk. The location of this hotel is excellent for onward journeys and there is good parking. I would stay here again. Happy to recommend a stay here.
