The room was tired and in urgent need of TLC. It was not the cleanest of hotels either. I was disappointed as I have always admired from a far and was looking forward to this stay with my family. I was nervous about staying here based on other reviews I read, but thought this hotel seemed like a good family friendly option in Aviemore. I should have listened to the reviews. We were very unhappy with our stay at this hotel. The rooms were disgusting- dirty, dingy, old, smelly and holes in the sheets. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning and the room was hot. We were able to open the window but there was no screen so bugs flew in. The whole place needs to be redone. The hotel breakfast was OK, onsite parking is a plus and the location is great, but we could not wait to get out of there.

We will not be going back to McDonald’s Highland Resort the room service was very poor, our room was still not serviced at 17:00 this happen two days running had to go to reception before it was done. The breakfast was very poor my wife got food poisoning after the breakfast on Saturday as the sausage she had partly eaten hadn’t been fully cooked. The hotel is very shabby worn carpets worn furniture it needs a complete refurb. We have been going to that hotel at least once or twice a year over the last 20 years, over the last five years it has gradually gone downhill and this was probably the worst it been. McDonald’s should not be charging those rates for this hotel as it is not up to a 4 star rating we were very disappointed. Regards, Charles Nisbet
