Hossa National Park is located in the northern part of Suomussalmi. There you'll find many different kinds of biking trails, of which the Blue Achievement is the longest and most challenging. The trail is 30 miles long and starts from Hossa Visitor Centre as do all of the other trails. This trail requires a good level of fitness and good mountain biking skills. The beautiful trail includes some more technical sections and challenging bits going uphill and downhill. If the weather is rainy, it gets even more challenging with, for example, wet roots along the way. The trail is perfect for people who are looking for a longer trail with a varied terrain. You can also tailor the trail to your liking by choosing a different start or finish or leaving some sections out. The trail goes through the whole national park, and along the way there are several huts and firepits where you can take a break and fuel yourself.

The Royal Route is a historic postal route that starts from Bergen, Norway, and continues all the way to Saint Petersburg, Russia. Finland's western part of this fascinating road starts in Turku and goes to Helsinki via Paimio, Salo, Tammisaari and Fiskars, to name a few. This ancient route was used by kings, bishops, bourgeoisie, military and artists alike, and it's a wonderful opportunity to admire Southern Finland's green scenery and archipelago from the saddle of a bike. On the way you can explore culturohistorically interesting destinations, like the Mustio Manor or the idyllic ironworks milieus of Fiskars and Billnäs. There's a lot to see and experience in these centuries-old ironworks villages, from an artisan community and shops to museums, exhibitions and varied restaurants. The 141-mile-long trail is suited for people who want a longer cycling adventure, but it doesn't require technical skills, so it's also suitable for beginners. Most of the trail goes quickly on paved cycling routes, and you can continue the trip for a bit longer by cycling from Helsinki all the way to Kouvola.
