I rarely leave reviews but felt I needed to to help others. We stayed at the Tivoli last year and it was fabulous but unavailable for our dates. I chose the Crowne Plaza as it’s supposed to be five star but was disappointed from the second we arrived. The hotel is in desperate need of a returb and is simply incomparable to Tivoli. The check in staff did not offer to assist with our bags and the corridors have zero natural light which felt quite oppressive. The breakfast was good but the daytime staff in the pool bar areas were frankly hostile. No smiles, no making you feel like you are on holiday, just silent serving if you could get a drink. The umbrellas can’t be operated manually around the pool, you have to find a member of staff with a drill to do the operation- this took ages and is so inconvenient if you feel like you need a little shade at any point- I had to sit in the bushes until I could find someone. Bar staff refused to give us a champagne glass for the room and demanded we call room service even though we were going to the room- no poolside towels provided unless you give them a 30 euro deposit despite the fact they have your room number for returns! I paid £1500 for 3 nights and came away feeling robbed. No mini bar in the rooms, well there was a fridge but nothing stocked in it. The extra hangers I requested arrived the following day.
