We had an amazing time at the Cotton Tree Lodge. It is truly a one of a kind experience, a luxurious hideaway with adventures aplenty for all travelers - and the Moho River makes for a great swim (complete with a rope swing)! Iguanas, birds, howler monkeys and butterflies are easy to spot and the jungle trails a perfect for a quick walk. The lodge and grounds team were all very friendly and willing to take the time to talk about their culture, history and Belize. They made our trip exceptionally special. If you can make it, take the time to talk with Armando, he maintains the Lodge's garden where the grow much of the food you'll eat, about Mayan culture and traditional farming.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served family style and delicious every night, the Lodge team accommodates dietary restrictions and the onsite bar is an awesome pre-dinner hangout. We rented Kayaks for the day and went up river exploring our first day and second rode the Lodge's bicycles into Punta Gorda (about 13 miles). We went to the Market in Punta Gorda and stopped at the Cotton Tree Chocolate Factory (the dark cocoa with coffee nib = amazing).
Honestly our stay couldn't have been better, the location is amazing, the excursions exceptional and the crew that runs the Lodge are all wonderful. I hope we can come back often, this is a perfect place for romantic getaways, family adventure or a escape with best friends.
