Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here Great staff, comfortable rooms and good food

I feel obliged to write a review since the recent reviews are mixed. If you're looking for a hotel experience where you're in the hotel/room for a good chunk of the day, you might want to look elsewhere. If you're looking for a place to sleep for a weekend of exploring, this place is perfect. I reserved a triple room somewhat last-minute for a weekend trip with my sister and a friend. The bathroom was clean, and the beds and room were perfectly comfortable, though it's definitely not a place to just hang out. We arrived a little after 3pm to check-in, which was quick and easy, and then we were back out for more sightseeing. We left early in the morning for a hike, so we didn't see anyone on our way out.

The whole place was very clean and well decorated. The residential side and bar/catering are run as 2 separate entities. The bar and catering were first class. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was fantastic, beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. They provided us with a non slip bath mat and toilet rolls which were non existent when we reached our room! The residential side was very different. On arrival it was spotless and well decorated. However, that is where the positives stop! We had a kettle tea bags etc but no milk therefore we could not have a drink. There were 3 biscuits to last 2 of us for 3 days! In the bathroom there was 1 hand towel and a bath towel each, with nowhere to hang them to dry and to last us for the whole 5 days. I was appalled to find that the room was not serviced for the whole time we were there but even worse, the bathroom was not cleaned at all during our 5 day stay.

The room, though small and rather dated was clean. The bed was comfortable. Nowhere to sit except on the bed. The en-suite bathroom was clean, there were complimentary products and the shower was hot and powerful. I had dinner both nights of my two night stay, first meal (plaice in breadcrumbs) rather disappointing, second meal (braised steak) much better, fruit crumble desert excellent. The establishment is a ‘Country Club with rooms’ rather than a traditional pub or hotel. On my second night, a Saturday, there was obviously a function/party going on downstairs with loud disco music, making sleep impossible; I thought the music would be turned-off at 10 pm, it wasn’t, I presumed, optimistically, that it would be turned-off at 11pm, again it wasn’t, surely it would be turned-off at midnight, a legal requirement (?), again it wasn’t, at a quarter to one I complained, there were apologies and the music was turned-off.

The staff were friendly. However, for the cost, we were expecting more. Was advised that they hadn’t seen the cleaner so to go up & check the room first. Room was tiny, bed was uncomfortable & only 1 pillow each provided. Furniture was old & marked. Only 1 hand towel & small bath towel was provided & the plug for the sink didn’t fit. There was also a rush of water noise that kept happening every 2 minutes during the night. Patches of white paint on cream walls and stains on the carpet. Overall, the hotel is dated & tired. The restaurant had an event on which made parking difficult for guests who have pained to stay & the guests were noisy. Luckily it was just for the night!

Ended up booking this accommodation late in Anglesey for a weekend away in Wales. Most of the hotels in the area had limited to no availability for 3 people (2 x adults, 1 x child). This hotel had rooms that slept 3 and was very reasonably priced. The hotel was well staffed and they were very polite during our stay. The hotel itself is a little worn and dated. We had trouble getting into our room, which was sorted out with the bar staff. The electrics in our room was little to be desired and looks like the room has had a makeover in the last 5 years, but still looks a little tired. I'm sure in its heyday this Inn was a thriving holiday retreat, but it feels and looks like its been forgotten to some degree. The Wi-Fi is difficult to get connected to depending on what room and where you are in the property. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. We weren't there for luxury and just somewhere to get out heads down after a long day walking and doing other activities in the area. Its around 30 minutes from Snowdonia nation park which is what we wanted and a similar distance to ZipWorld, which is another place we visited. The location and price is probably the best part about this hotel. If you are looking for something more luxurious I'd probably do abit more searching. I'd happily stay here again if I was doing the same sort of activities, but again this was just somewhere to put your head down at the end of a long day. Thanks for having us. Cheers Fraser

We booked four nights here so that we could do some walking round the island. For that, the location was very good. However the inn itself was not!! There is no housekeeping / no beds made, let alone changed. Tea and coffee not replenished. No bins emptied, etc. Hotels.com says that food is available. It is not! They say that they serve breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays only. They do not! However, they do hold private functions for the local community and these go on until ridiculous times, with music blasting out until midnight one night. We were in room 7 and we honestly couldn't hear our (ridiculously small tv) over the racket that was being made. Walls in the room were paper thin, you could clearly hear neighbour's conversations. On our last evening we rang the manager out of desperation and he did contact the hotel to ask that they wind up the entertainment. This was half past eleven time. The rooms are small and they have nowhere at all to hang clothes - no wardrobe or chest of drawers. Our shirts, blouses etc were left hanging in our car and the rest kept in the suitcase. The place is tired to say the least. Please do not waste your money booking this place. Hotels.com - please change your listing!!

Very good value for money. Staff lovely, room very clean and location good. It’s a little dated and needs a bit of TLC here and there but if it’s cost verses value then you’d struggle to find better.

On the original email, check in was supposed to be between 3-10pm. We arrived at 3.30 to find someone very flustered and we were told to come back after 5 because the rooms hadn't been cleaned. We came back after 5 to find a key with our name on it, and proceeded to find our room alone. There seemed to be no-one on site other than another guest. The bar area was locked and closed up. The room was ok, beds were comfortable and seemed clean. Bathroom floor seemed ready to collapse and the main light/ extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working, so we had to shower in very dim light. The next morning, we searched the downstairs area to find someone to check out. Didn't stay for breakfast because we had to be out early. When we found someone, they were friendly enough. In fact the person who turned us away the day before was friendly, but not many staff around, which made it interesting when we couldn't get into our room at first because one of the two keys didn't work. It made us think, who would have helped? Where was everyone? Very eery! Moelfre is a beautiful place, the B&B had amazing views.

The connected pub wasn't open, which wasnt obvious at any point before booking. Lovely pub half a mile walk away saved the day. The room itself was tired, the toilet didn't refil properly and in general it felt very old. Was quiet and comfortable regardless, but wouldn't rush back.

I stayed here with my 2 sons at the weekend and can't fault it for the price. The staff were friendly, the hotel is really well placed to drive to multiple great beaches. We were comfy, it was clean, the rooms had everything we needed and it was quiet at night, which as a light sleeper I really appreciate at a hotel. We would absolutely stay here again and I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

When we arrived, the place smelled lovely, felt warm and welcoming, and the living area was very spacious, which we really appreciated. The best part for us was definitely the TV and internet. The TV had a great range of channels and entertainment options, and the Wi-Fi connection was excellent. Our kids were entertained the whole time, which was a big bonus for us as a family! Unfortunately, we did notice quite a few spiders and other small bugs around the property, including on the bedding, sofa, and in the bathroom. This made us feel a little uncomfortable, especially at bedtime, as we were worried about insects crawling around while we were sleeping. We ended up checking the bedding and our belongings carefully before settling down. Some of the cupboards also need a little maintenance, as the fittings were quite loose and we had to keep adjusting them during our stay. Overall, the property is spacious, warm, and has excellent TV and internet facilities, especially for families with children. With some pest control, a more thorough clean, and a few maintenance fixes, it could be a really lovely and comfortable place to stay.

Felt as if we were the only guests there. Beware Tues, all shut up. No bar or pool table etc. The patio area is poorly maintained. Room clean enough. Bathroom fan not working. Best bit- the views and location. Close to Traeth Bychan. Great cafe/pizza place there, with toilets , open til 8pm. Guest house -Felt overpriced for what you got. Close to Moelfre, can walk 0.6ml to Ann's Pantry.

A place with so much potential but a bizarre experience. Everything in the room - curtains, cushions, carpet - seemed new and very promising but the attention and service that should have accompanied that good start was non-existent. At no point during our stay did we meet our hosts or any staff apart from bar staff who, although very pleasant, showed no sign of knowing that we were guests staying in the 'ghostly' property where, once the bar was shut, we felt like we were the only, and not very welcome, occupants of the whole building. It would have been nice to have been warned that, unlike all other inns, hotels, etc., that we have stayed in, there would be no service of any kind to our room throughout our stay - no replenishment of towels or the coffee/tea tray. There was a vacuum cleaner outside our door so, had it been necessary, we could have done our own cleaning! The establishment serves food but there was no breakfast available which also seemed unusual in our experience.

2/10 Poor

The property looked rundown and unkempt. The driveway borders were like meadow grass. Despite being the only people booked in , warning sign, we were shown into a room with a faulty bathroom light, we were moved. Again we were the only people booked in for dinner, further warning sign. The food was very limited, poor quality and very overpriced. The stay confirmed our thoughts that staying in UK is not good value for money. This is the first time that we have ever written a review.

Granted, we did only give 5 hours notice of our arrival, but the room was dirty and cold on arrival. No heating in the bathroom and the window wouldn't close properly. No soap and we found dried toothpaste on the bed linen. The table was unwiped and greasy. We requested to move rooms and, as much as it was a better room, it did also have issues. No soap in the bathroom and the light was quite frankly dangerous and didn't not stay lit. We found another review which said the same thing back in June so not good maintenance really. The furniture is tired and tatty. Wouldn't call a 3 or 4 star at all, more like a hostel. No option for breakfast. Not good value for money at all. If I had paid £50-60 I wouldn't be complaining, but at £100 it was well overpriced.

DO NOT BOOK

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE IT IS CLOSED. After a 20 mile day on a walking trip we turned up to find the place closed. On contacting hotels.com they spent 45 minutes trying to find us alternative accomodation and having failed they hung up and never called us back. Left stranded and getting dark we could only find a place 40 miles away available and had to sort transport to and from ourselves which left us £200 out of pocket let alone a massive inconvenience. Hotels.com have still not called us back...

Night away with family

Felt like the weekend before the rush. Very quiet. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Food options limited, but then not expensive. Decorating on main areas not quite finished. Upstairs corridor needed 'airing'.
