8/10 Very good

We had a really enjoyable stay here as a family. The welcome at reception was warm and friendly, which set the tone for the whole trip. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the beds in particular were excellent. The bathroom was spotless, and the toiletries were a nice touch that made it feel a bit more thoughtful than the usual budget offering. WiFi was reliable throughout and the TV worked well, which kept everyone happy in the evening. Breakfast was the one area with room for improvement. The food itself was fine, but the buffet could have done with closer monitoring. A few items ran low and were not topped up quickly, and at one point there were no clean plates available. Nothing that spoiled the stay, just a small thing that would lift the experience if the team kept a closer eye on it. Overall a comfortable, well kept hotel with friendly staff. We would happily stay again.

Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Room was immaculately clean with very new fixtures and fittings. Food was simply amazing both for evening meal and breakfast. Plenty of parking. Ideal location for peace and quiet. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again the next time I am working in the area.

Nice clean room, friendly staff and tasty food. It’s a long walk from the train station and taxis generally finish servicing around 7 pm latest, so it’s more convenient to drive.

4/10 Fair

I stayed here with my family and we were fairly shocked regarding the service we received throughout our stay. First of all, I counted 18 hairs in the bathtub when checking into our room, the bathroom clearly hadn’t been touched. My family and I had booked 4 rooms at the hotel. We all noticed that none of our rooms had been ‘restocked’ when they had been cleaned. For example, no cups or amenities around the kettle biscuits, tea/ coffee, sugar etc were replaced. The bin also hadn’t been touched and we had to take the rubbish down ourselves. It felt like the staff who ‘cleaned’ the rooms done the bare minimum. Considering we paid well over £1,000 to stay here, that wasn’t much to ask. The fact this hotel calls itself 4* is beyond me, whoever is rating this as a 4* needs to seriously re-evaluate it, or at least get a second opinion. The breakfast was hit and miss, we were led to believe it was a ‘help yourself buffet’. The food was good, pastries were fresh overall it was okay. The following morning, no breakfast was out. Various staff members appeared uncertain of what was going on. We voiced our concerns by this point to a woman on the desk, she was helpful and was quick to help restock our rooms and apologised for the confusion. Overall, this hotel was a complete letdown, how they can call themselves 4* is beyond me. If you want a basic level of customer care I’d look elsewhere. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing.

The room and bathroom was great. Really clean, quiet and relaxing. We were able to take our dog also which was great. There is food available in the restaurant but quite expensive so we went elsewhere. Only negative was the nearest town had nowhere to eat out (it was quite run down) so we had to drive further afield for dinner but found a lovely pub called The Grape which did nice, reasonably priced food. I guess this hotel is a good base for hikers and nicely located next to zip world.

Nice hotel. Shame about the stench of dog piss in the bathroom. It was cleaned when we reported it but the stench remained.

Parking was easy, breathtaking views! Room was slightly dated and had some dirt in the room such as dirty fingner print marks on the walls & mold on the shower sealant... Staff were polite but also didnt seem to know what they were doing and could not find my booking for 10 minutes asking me multiple times to confirm i had booked there. Also had confusion over my booking type as expedia allowed me to select the 'pay at property' option (which was more expensive) then the hotel took the money out of my account before my stay saying they do not offer the pay at property option and they can not control what expedia advertises... which seems like an excuse for false advertising as they would have control over how expedia markets their options!!

Longlife milf!

Really nice hotel with amazing views and good staff, but let itself down with the breakfast situation…. they only use UHT/longlife milf, so the coffee and cereal were disgusting. I think this is senseless but easily fixable.

8/10 Very good
