The Orient bar and staff were excellent, but you do not need to stay there to go to the bar. When we arrived, we pulled up in a taxi at the entrance. Nobody offered help with luggage, and we had to fight past people to even get in the door! The reception staff seemed very unhappy/bored - not a warm welcome. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Nice large showers. The room said Golden Horn view, but mainly was buildings and a main road with a slither of water. The young guy at the sap reception was lovely and welcoming, but the staff inside was rude. One girl sprayed me with a cleaning spray while I sat down after the sauna. If you want people to leave, ask! It was at least an hour before closing, though. We are glad we cancelled our Hammam service. Tom Tom Suites, Soho House and Divan are all much better options.
The place's history attracts many people; while sitting in the bar, they even brought a tour group through! It's not an ideal stay to relax. I suggest just booking in for the afternoon tea or going to the bar and staying somewhere else. Though it is a very affordable option.
