When you are checking in at this hotel, you are greeted with a full page of terms to agree to. Hidden at the bottom of that list, you are told you will be charged for a room deposit, which I later called about and I was berated by desk person, "read before you sign." The initial person at the desk made no mention of this and just asked for my credit card, which I thought was odd because I already pre-paid for the room on Hotels.com. I just figured it was to verify something, but it is a room deposit to which I learned later it would be refunded 3-5 business days later. Apparently this hotel has had bad experiences with their guests and they are trying to protect themselves.
Here's an idea, why don't you list your intention of charging for a deposit at the TOP of the page and highlight or have your check in person mention it! Most people have been traveling in the car for awhile, may be tired and would just like to check in without being greeted with a laundry list of terms. Another recommendation, change your tone with the way you speak with your customers. There are plenty of other hotels to stay at in Belmar.
In terms of the room, it was clean and sufficient. If you are a light sensitive sleeper, I don't recommend this hotel as our room's curtains were very light and allowed light to seep in.
