Book for the port wine lodge tours - we went in April & had to search for availability; (wouldn't bother with Taylor's, who were very unfriendly but Cockburn were very welcoming & informative). Some fabulous food available off the tourist routes

Very crowded in August, but still very nice to visit. The cruise was not worth it. We enjoyed a beautiful ride on the city bus 500, along the river to the beaches. The Alegria walk is great. The Serralves museum and its garden are worth visiting.

Porto is a charming smaller city with lots of fun activities to keep busy. The old world charm of a port city like Porto is hard to find. While tourism has taken hold as you can now start to see tip jars around the shops- it is still affordable

Bolhao market is definitely worth a visit and there are few good restaurants on the upper level. The Metro is easy to navigate and the No.1 tram is definitely worth a try. The Majestic Cafe is more hype than quality but is a good experience.

Walkable city, it is a dreamy place perfect in sunshine or rain -i actually thought only Edinburg would be beautiful in gray weather, but Porto has that special allure as well- We visit in February, low season, colder but not a cruel winter.

Wonderful town. Walk a bit out of the main touristy strips and you'll come across great cafes and local restaurants that are much cheaper and just as friendly. Also, learning a few phrases in Portuguese will go a long way with people.

Will definitely go back again! You must try their famous sandwich, francesinha, and the alheira with egg, which is a traditional chicken sausage dish. Don't forget the Porto tonica! Highly suggest a guided walk of the city also.

Porto is a must if you're visiting Portugal. Quite different from the capital city and with a lot of character, local shops, sites to visit and admire. You can get lost in the many streets with amazing architecture and colors.

A visit to the church & museum of Sao Francisco, the gold church is an absolute must. Livraria Lello was not worth the price to go in. They let far too many people in at one time so it was ramed and not an enjoyable experience.
"Having a view of the Douro was beautiful. Our room was quiet, roomy and a fridge w/ kitchenette! Loved the shower. The front desk staff was great to deal w/. We were early and they were able to let us in our room. It wasn’t the room we booked but Miss Rita was able to change it for us. That was really nice of her. Thank you for our stay!"
"Minimalistic 10x. Only a wooden box for a room. 8x8 room. All amenities are within the hotel but not in room. Great concept. Fun stay. They have a rooftop lounge and terrace. Water tank “pool” and cool restaurant and bar downstairs. Old bank converted to hotel. Cool vibes. "
"This is an excellent choice and a fantastic place to stay. Conveniently located—just a 5-minute walk to main roads—yet peacefully tucked away from the city noise. The building is outstanding, with impressive interiors and a superb hotel experience overall. The staff are truly amazing and wonderfully attentive. Breakfast is excellent, though it could be further improved by offering more healthy options, especially a wider selection of fresh fruits."
"The social hub! Well what can I say "it's an absolute stunning hotel", in the ❤️ of Porto. The decor is chic with a twist of playfulness which I truly loved. The rooms for a city hotel were on point. Whilst I'm being honest, I felt the TV channels could of been better in the room! Otherwise wow! 🤘🤘😎😎❤️❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹"
"Our stay at this property was lovely, staff were kind, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic and make sure to take some time to have dinner or cocktails at the restaurant. The rooms was very comfortable and the pool/ spa is lovely. We would highly recommend this property for its amenities and the excellent service!"
