After several years of staying at the Mediterranean (since Summer 2021), we realized it was no longer a good choice because of the neighborhood. Half a block down Republican on the way to 1st Avenue West, there’s an alleyway where we witnessed several homeless people dumpster diving. On Queen Anne Avenue too the downtrodden of the earth are in plain view. It’s just not what we want to see when we walk out of a hotel that charges upwards of $230 a night.
Also, we weren’t given our free sparkling wine on check in. I didn’t remark on it and was waiting for it to be offered, but the man who checked us in was a bit cranky to boot.
On the plus side, the Starbucks adjacent to the hotel opens at 5am and they have the nicest staff, friendly even at 5:30am!
