The actual Oceanami resort is a completely difference experience than what's portrayed on Orbitz and the resort's website. During our December 2017 stay, about half of the property was under construction, including villas, beach club (which is part of the property name), 3 of 5 restaurants, spa, and areas next to the pool (the swim-up bar). When we booked the stay, we were misled by a number of stunning pictures of the property on Orbitz and the resort's website. When we arrived, we quickly realized that virtually all of the pictures were rendered and virtually staged, and in fact, the resort was under heavy construction.
While our villa was completed and furnished, there were a number of issues which led to an unacceptable experience. The drainage holes in the shower and toilet rooms reeked of sewage and waste. Both are in the bedroom area and within 10 feet of the bed. During our 2 night stay, we killed about 20 mosquitoes in our villa, despite the fact that we were extremely careful to keep the door closed and never once opened any windows.
Lastly, based on our experiences in hotels of comparable cost and Orbitz stars in Vietnam and across southeast Asia, we had high hopes for great food and service. Unfortunately, neither was true during our stay - the resort's only kitchen was comparable to a dorm room cafeteria, and our reservation for the hotel bus to Ho Chi Minh City was completely forgotten and overbooked, forcing us to take a bus 2.5 hours later than we booked.
