It was an experience that felt better than staying in a hotel. It had its own unique, home-like atmosphere that felt very comfortable. The digital locks on the front door and the room door was very convenient and made me Feel secure. They provided eye masks, wine glasses, a wine cooler, and so much more. Cleanliness was impeccable.

Beautiful Convenient Home
Historic home with recent updates. Many nice amenities set this home apart. A pool, hiking trail, swing, multiple firepits, a freezer with ice cream! Our room #4 was very nice and comfortable but the bathroom is a little small. They had a coffee bar with probably 30 different kinds of coffee.

8/10 Very Good

Great location for visiting Nelson county hiking trails, wineries and breweries. Room was great, loved the fireplaces outside. Ice cream was a nice touch. Would have been nice, though, to have an actual ice maker (the one there was not working) and a refrigerator.

Never Again !!!!!!!
No one there…..NO ONE. Called to ask how we could access the building. We’re given a code that did not work, then given one that did. We then needed a code for the room we reserved. Since we were then given different codes, we decided to leave the door open while we brought a small amount of items in from the car. We were the only people in the building/ house. Never again ! Also, extra charges were applied to the price. We did not realize it because we only had Cell service while outside. They should at least have a human greet you upon arrival. Very strange overall !!!!!!!

Start for Blue Ridge Parkway
We enjoyed the ease of checking in, the snacks were good. No breakfast, but we didn't expect it. The walk to the creek was really nice and was enjoyed with our coffee. We stayed here at the start of our blue ridge parkway drive. Would highly recommend.

Our stay at the Afton Mountain Inn was peaceful and lovely with many beautiful outdoor spots to enjoy the property - the pool area, fire pit, patio. When we had an issue with the entry code, the staff was responsive and resolved our issue quickly. We enjoyed the location as it is near multiple vineyards, Blue Mountain Brewing and an easy drive to Waynesboro and Charlottesville. The room was nicely appointed with some modern furnishings that still felt right at home in the historic property. It should be noted, there is no staff member on duty generally at the Inn. We only saw one staff member on the morning we checked out, so it is something of a hands off approach to service. That said, most things were well stocked and we wanted for little during our stay.

Not a B&B, but was a very comfortable nights stay in a convenient location to much hiking, wineries, and breweries. The self-service aspect of the property worked well. The property management team was very accessible via text and quickly helped with our 2 contacts. The furnishings inside and out of the property are well kept and there is a nice hiking path on property down to a nearby creek.

Lovely, warm-hearted hosts who not only run this B&B with professional efficiency, but also make the. best. cookies. And serve breakfasts considerate of dietary preferences that are delicious, and served with flair. The beds are ultra comfortable and linens immaculate. Nestled into the mountains, you'll be glad you chose this jewel.

I loved the character of the home, the story and history behind the room names. The hosts were wonderful and explained everything. It was very clean, had all the towels and things we needed. There was even a dispenser in the shower for body wash, shampoo and conditioner. There was so much care put into our stay, it truly felt like home. We cant wait to visit again!! Highly recommended.

Delightful Afton B&B
Very lovely restored circa 1848 home. The B&B was very clean and amply furnished with period pieces. There were 2 very comfortable public rooms on the first floor. A large front porch with rocking chairs and a second floor porch in the rear of the house with comfortable seating. Our room was very comfortable with tasteful decor and luxurious linens and bath robes. We were served a delicious breakfast consisting of fruit juice, a small cup of yogurt with banana slices and granola. We had an unlimited supply of pecan pancakes. Two bacon strips or a chicken sausage accompanied the pancakes and of fresh roasted coffee. I would highly recommend this lovely B&B.

I cannot say enough good things about this B&B. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into making the accommodations functional for a traveler. We had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast was divine and the house oozed with character. We will definitely plan a trip back to The Afton area to stay here again.
