Loved our stay at guesthouse Bjarney. Awesome hosts, super nice. Out of all the hotels we stayed in (4 total), this was our favorite in Iceland. Super clean, free parking, spacious room, great hosts. Please do note that the hosts live in the guesthouse as well, we thought that would be awkward at first but it wasn't. The hosts are super nice, they let us use their jacuzi and sauna. Would recommend!

B&B room was NOT as advertised
We contacted the owner as requested when we knew what our expected arrival time was. She told us she had to go to the doctor in Reykjavik which was 45 mins away. Nobody was there for check in. She said the "caravan" was open but we booked the room expecting it to be inside the house as described on the website. We waited for 3 1/2 hours in our rental car for her to return and still nobody showed up. We tried calling and texting her and got no response until she got back around 6:20. We left and got a hotel room in town before she returned.

Great location, friendly host + hot tub & sauna.
I picked this location as the end stop of my day driving the Golden Circle. The house was quite nice, the host very friendly though it is located in a bland "suburb" area of the town. Great kitchen facilities, a grocery store close by (driving) and best of all a hot tub and sauna to relax in at the end of a long day.

Wonderful host; clean, comfortable place to stay
David is the perfect host!! He went to great lengths to make us comfortable - even though his back was hurting he gave us a tour of his house, showed us our room, even spent 30+ minutes giving tips on what to visit/do during our stay in Iceland. Really great guy. His house is beautiful; the accommodation very clean, comfortable and quiet. David offered his kitchen for use; also made coffee for us in the morning. Highly recommend!

middling stay, cramped caravan.
The location was a bit difficult to find. There was no visible signboard to indicate the guesthouse. We stayed in a on-site caravan. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed but it was a bit cramped, and I have two small sized kids. I would imagine it would be very difficult to host four big sized adults. We were allowed to use the bathrooms in the house, which were very comfortable and clean. Although the website showed nice photos of a big kitchen , we were asked to cook in the caravan , which was a bit of a disappointment.

Lovely home in Selfoss
David and Bjarney were friendly and so accommodating. Their home is quite modern; never before took a shower where I could press a button and listen to the radio while I showered! They offered coffee and tea in the morning and have a hot tub that fills and heats in an hour. Other people were staying there and David picked them up at the bus station and took them back again the next morning. They truly went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable.

4/10 Fair

Overpriced for what you get
We weren't aware that we would be sharing a house with the owners as the ad made it sound like we would have our own facilities. In fact the only part we had to ourself was our room and even the cupboards were completely filled with the owners belongings. Compared to other hotels we have stayed in while in Iceland, this has been more expensive and not up to the same standard. This place would have been more appropriate if in the ad it was made clear that we would be living in close quarters with the owners. And even then, is too expensive for what you get.

Excellent option near the Golden Circle
Our one night stay in Selfoss was great, a nice alternative to Reykjavik that is close to Golden Circle. David and Bjarney were excellent hosts, giving us alot of tips and were really enjoyable to speak to. The guesthouse is very clean with excellent facilites. They have a beautiful kitchen and the bathrooms are in great condition. I could not recommend their guesthouse enough - will definitely stay there again!

Great long weekend.
Stayed for 4 nights in the Kingsized room. Really comfy bed, had a wonderful sleep each night. Plenty of storage space in the room, which is on the smaller side. Full access to kitchen and utensils was perfect for breakfast and making packed lunches for the day. Could easily make full dinners, but we chose to eat out in the evenings. Plenty of space for parking. Although there were a few other couples staying in the house, it never felt cramped and there never seemed to be a wait for the shared bathrooms. Had access to Sauna and Hottub, but didn't take advantage. David, the host, was incredibly helpful. Would give us maps each day with must see places and the best routes to take.

2/10 Poor

Terrible service run by hoarders
When we arrived, nobody was present at the guesthouse. The door was locked, it was cold and rain was freezing. We knocked and hollered, but there was no response. They had a phone number posted on the window to call in which we were met with a busy signal. This happened for about an hour before we decided to go to a cafe and get some support from hotels.com. They were able to quickly get in contact with the operator. When we arrived at the guesthouse we were met with a woman who didn't really seem remorseful at all, and made it seem like it was our fault for not knowing there was a hidden key under the mat. Once inside the place looked like it was run by hoarders. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had in any hostel/guesthouse.

Arrived but no one was there to welcome us with no other instrucrions but to call the phone number stuck on the door. Had to drive to a petrol station and buy a sim card to contact staff. After a long, cold and wet day we were not impressed.
