This was our favorite hotel we stayed in! The staff was so kind and helpful, the rooms were decently sized and comfortable, and the onsen was beautiful. They are tattoo-friendly which was great for my partner and I to be able to enjoy the onsen culture. The hotel was very clean and quiet and beautifully kept. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We did not use the onsen - I have a lot of tattoos and was not sure if that would be ok since I read mixed reviews about that. But we also were pretty busy, and the days were hot so it was hard to imagine going wanting to sit in hot water. I am sure I could have asked - most places in Kyoto did not mind the tattoos (including nice restaurants and temples). I was prepared to cover up if needed. We did not eat at the restaurant but it looked good! There were just so many choices nearby. It’s in a great location - very walkable to Nishiki market and other restaurants as well as Gion. A quick car or bus/train ride to places like Arashiyama as well! Close to the train station - you could walk with few bags or get a cab for cheap.
