The pictures look great, and although it is impressive at first glance, look closer and it’s a shabby mess. The concierge seem to hate their job and when I mentioned that the fridge in my room was broken an apology was all I got, nothing was fixed. If a broken fridge was the only thing wrong then that’d be fine, but the aircon was broken and the shower rail came off in my hand hands. All around the hotel are peeling wallpaper, grubby paintwork, loose door handles and dangling curtains. On our second night there was a power cut followed by a really quite spectacular concert/fireworks display at midnight and beyond. It seems that the hotel is next to some kind of venue as the next night was the same. Sleeping was impossible.
On a positive note, the waitress in the breakfast room was nice and helpful, the breakfast was pleasant, although the water offered was warm and from a shared bottle. Really, it all comes down to the fact that it’s cheap. If you’re looking for that then these little problems will be acceptable.
