"Perfectly located to the city - a bus ride of around 6-8 minutes to Princess Street/main visitor attractions/Castle etc - parking also available at hotel. The outside of hotel is not very appealing but once inside it is very open, well lit and decorated - lovely relaxing feel about the place. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable - would certainly use this hotel again."
"Great location, 7 min walk from the Edinburgh Castle, minutes to great gelato, adult beverages, and easy access to most Fringe shows! Will stay again in the future!"
"We can’t say enough good things about the village hotel in Edinburgh. Some tourists may prefer to stay in the old town or new town, however, we loved this location and the amenities it had to offer. The modern gym and pool were amazing amenities to use each day. Air conditioning was amazing in the record high temperatures. And a full buffet breakfast every morning was the cherry on top. One final note we were never more than a 10 pound Uber Dr. from any tourist spot or fringe location."
"The hotel (and Apex City Center) are right on Grassmarket and in the middle of all you want to see. Take the stairway off Victoria Place and you are right at the Castle. It's a longer walk to Holyrood House and the Parliament but not bad. Many good restaurants right outside the door, any shopping you want. The hotel is modern, with a breakfast that beat anything we could find outside, and at a better price. No air conditioning, but the provided fans cooled the room sufficiently during the heat wave. "
"Easy check in, clean and well kept accommodations. Friendly and inclusive staff. Nifty old building. Nice vibes throughout. Convenient location.
I stayed in a private room so cannot speak for the dorms, however, our room was satisfactory, cool and comfy.
I stayed only 1 quick night so wasn’t able to enjoy any activities besides sleeping, but they seem to have schedules of things going on in (or around?) the hostel.
Would recommend if you want to stay close to the city centre and want to be around other travellers. You can choose between shared dorm rooms or private rooms. "
