Fine but not exceptional
It is a large hotel conveniently close to many offices and tourist attractions. The hotel was fine though not exceptional. Among the positives I would include the location and the ease of getting food and grocery deliveries.
Among the quibbles is that the reception seemed short staffed and perhaps as a consequence the staff didn't seem overeager to help. Thw gym is not open 24 hours. The north and the south winga being not connected at higher floors leads to some inconvenience.

Not for family to visit Smithsonian
I’m going to start with the bad because I was disappointed in my hotel choice. The hotel is not “walking distance” to any of the Smithsonian museums like it said in the other reviews, it was a 35 minute walk to get to the natural history museum. Part of the walk about 2 blocks immediately out the doors of the hotel was absolutely not family friendly at night time (unsafe). The staff was friendly and checking was quick and it was my wife’s birthday and they gave us some fruit and a dessert and some drink vouchers so I did really appreciate that! They deserve some recognition but it unfortunately does not make up for everything else. We ate at the bar area later in the evening and the food was good but the waitress was slow. The rooms are very dated, it’s fine if it fits your budget but they were very dated and basic.

The room was very small considering how expensive it was per night. The bed or pillows were not very comfortable and we woke up more tired. Front desk initially refused to give me and my family complimentary breakfast vouchers, despite staying 3 nights and offering these to other guests. I insisted and eventually obtained for myself and two children for the three days. Pool area did not have good lighting during night hours when we went. The food was standard. I stayed here previously and had an overall better experience.

Unfair extra charge for a stay already paid for!
As it is difficult to get late check out and hotels don't usually offer more than 3 hours, I decided to book an extra night so I have somewhere to stay while waiting for the very late flight. Upon checkout, my colleague pointed to me that I got charged an early departure which is equivalent to half of daily rate. But why? I paid already an entire overnight stay? why the double charge? That is so unfair!

An extremely enjoyable experience for my first time in DC. I wouldn’t hesitate in booking the Hyatt for all future visits. Affordable with upper end staff and amenities.
