Perfectly situated but quiet
Lovely remote chalet that is still ideally situated in the black forest to visit, with a short drive, the clock makers and glass blowers and triburg falls. Owners are very friendly, the food is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable.

Wonderful hotel in the Black Forest
Kräuter Chalet is beautiful! It is an older hotel, but well taken care of. The room we had was a bit small for our group of 3, but the views from our window and balcony made up for that. They have free parking, which is always a plus. The wifi was a bit spotty in our room, however, it worked great on the main level, we weren't there to surf the internet so this wasn't a big issue for us. The restaurant was a nice bonus after our long day on the road.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were a nice size with room for storage and lounging around. The common areas and restaurant were very comfortable. We enjoyed the free breakfast and ate dinner there twice. The area is in between two towns so it was very quiet with nice views of the countryside. The bed and pillows weren't comfortable would be my only complaint.

Good choice for one night.
The room is clean but the noise from neighbors can be easily heard. Both dinner and breakfast were reasonable. Internet was very slow. About 15 minutes driving to triberg waterfall and Esso gas station.

The common areas of the chalet (entrance, resturant, outside patio) were very clean and relaxing. Our room was not the cleanest. No internet / Wifi available. The breakfast was tyipical European; filling and tasty.

Quaint little place.
Be aware that this place does not take late check-ins. I didn't read that fine print so it's a good thing we arrived at 7:45 before the 8PM cut-off. The lady that works here is super hard worker and very busy. When we arrived she was doing dinner so we waited a little bit for her to be able to check us in. She was friendly and spoke English well. We got two triple rooms. One was larger than the other, but the smaller had a better view and a balcony. Dinner was served until 9 so we went straight down and ate. Menu was simple and no English, but we figured it out. Good was quick and tasty. Schnitzel was not breaded which I actually like better. Breakfast was included and again this woman was working hard. It was tasty with plenty of typical European items but also including eggs and sausage. We would stay here again. Decorating here was amazing. Looks like it has recently been re-done from reception area to rooms. Cute doggie at the back house... behind fence. There is really no wi-fi here or cell reception. It may have been better in lobby. I don't know.

This is a very German hotel. If you are used to chain hotels you will find it lacking in amenities. There is no WiFi, cell reception, room service, television channels in English, phone in the room, housekeeping as far as I could tell, nada. The staff does not really speak English but can get by if you use he Spanish or French you learned in school. I’m okay with, even happy with, all of this. What was difficult is that the staff was almost impossible to find much of the time. So when you can’t program your GPS due to no reception, you also can’t ask if you should turn left or right out of the driveway to get where you’re going - and there’s no town for a few kilometers so it would be nice to be able to ask. There is no help with your bags, no asking if you’re enjoying your stay. The only time anyone tried to talk to me was to tell me they should have charged me more than they did on local taxes and asked me for more money - while I was carrying my bags upstairs. There were also bees in our room (multiple) and waterbugs that kept coming up in the toilet. However, it wasn’t all bad. The decor was darling. Lots of attention to detail and interesting design features throughout the place (except in the sparse dog-friendly rooms). We loved that it was dog friendly (though don’t expect bowls, dogbeds, or treats to be available). The location and views were peaceful. The restaurant was decent and the breakfast was plentiful, if not very exciting.

The position of the hotel was excellent, beautiful area. The staff were good, the food was limited for vegetarians but the standard was first class. Comfortable room, good shower but no trimmings were provided, good job we always take our own. No tea or coffee in room but plentiful supply the breakfast room. Breakfasts were very good. The only complaint we had no water one evening but they gave us free wine to compensate. We would recommend this hotel.

No wifi and No mobile service. Very disappointed
There's no wifi but in the hotel.com, it shows free wifi. Also, there's no mobile service at all. We're really upset about this as we need internet to work at night.

Chalet on the B500
We were made to feel very welcome on arrival, we were surprised to find out there was no WiFi, as on our booking it said free WiFi was included. The room was nice. I had no problem with the shower but my wife had no water. We ate in the restaurant and food was good.

2/10 Poor

Overpriced
Hotel.com should not recommend this hotel. It's over-priced for what it offers. The room was dated, really basic. We had to carry our suitcases 2 storeys with no help. There was no fan nor air-conditioning and room was beside the road. We hardly slept because of road noise. Curtains were of thin material and not lined, makes sleeping even more difficult.
