Spending a few days in and around Hakodate
Initially I wanted to go for a trip by car but I was too late to get both the air ticket and the rental car reservation as I wanted. So I went for a city trip to Hakodate on foot and by public transport. This is very well possible by the famous tramway and buses too.

Easily to reach from the JR Station by taxi - cost was Y790 going Y630 returning to the station early Sunday morning. Had sea view which may have been nice but we were there during a typhoon so saw large waves.
At ledge at the end of the hallway the inside window ledge was wet and just about perished but our room clean warm and dry.
A 7-Eleven shop was about 250 metres from the hotel and very convenient. The men at the reception seemed helpful with limited English. The lift door was super fast so we had to be quick to get in and out.

Free parking but poor front desk
Slightly away from central area , within 15 minutes of walking distance. However , free parking is great for visitors with own transport. Reception was lukewarm , with hardly any knowledge of spoken English .
Non-accommodating when a twin room was requested. Breakfast was set Japanese style , good but inadequate.

Free parking but disappointing staff
Staff was poor in communication and hardly speak any English. Rather rigid and unaccomodating when we requeat for a twin room instead of double. Location not too far from town center but it's better to drive to Mount Hakodate or places further away. Sea view rooms were not worth paying for as what we saw was rocky beach and grey sky. Only good thing was free parking . Breakfast was set Japanese food , rather good but inadequate. Like most Japanese hotels , check in is very late and checkout time too early.

The location was OK. The seaside effect was refreshing but the room has very strong stale smoke smell.
Rather old hotel that needs upgrading.

Good for self-drive tourists
Basic stay with reasonable room size (bigger than semi-double rooms size generally in Japan). A dated hotel, but provide free parking fee. A distant from city center, good for self-drive tourists. Weak Wi-Fi.

Good value in Hakodake
The hotel is right on the beach - good for walks but about 8 mins walk from the tram stop and 15 minutes from the railway station - all flat walking. Taxi to station cost Y710. Older style but perfectly adequate - I would definitely stay there again. Ask for a room overlooking the sea.. Staff most helpful.

looks old and gloomy but free parking
The hotel looked old and the blanket didn't look clean. The blanket quilt was not evenly distributed and some parts were only cloth. The sea view was quite depressing with greyish color but the parking was free.

Seaview room but small window.
The staffs were friendly and free parking right outside the hotel. The room and toilet was typically small as expected of a budget hotel in hokkaido. Very retro switches and bed. One thing i dont like about this hotel was the smoke smell. One thing i appreciate was the honesty and efficiency of their staffs when they came running after me as i've left my gopro in the room and checked out.

Great Stay
A very clean hotel and wonderful housekeeping daily. The sea view room is absolutely worth the price. Love that the heater works so well so that i can open the window and listen to the sound of waves even in Winter. Good view for sunrise too. Will absolutely return to this hotel if I'm in Hakodate again =)

By the ocean.
Small but clean room, a bit of residual cigarette smoke.
Coudn't watch TV as no English instructions and couldn't work out the remote control..
Helpful staff, very little English spoken but we made ourselves understood..
Rocked to sleep by the sound of waves breaking on the sand. Peaceful.
Very easy to get to from the station, a 20 minute walk.

Nice view but small room
The Room was very small, with a queen size bed, which the mattress wasn't comfy at all. Ideal for 2 adults just nice, but not with an additional kid. The scenery from the seaside is nice.

2-nights stay at the seaside
There's a bit of translation issue (the front desk couldn't speak English) during check-in. But after I showed my Expedia booking confirmation on my phone, it was smoothly done. The room was nice, quite spacious for the price. Amenities were on the spot. I liked the fact that I had a room with a view of the sea. The sound of waves and sea breeze was calming and definitely helped me relax during my sleep. The furniture was a bit old and I could smell a hint of smoke, perhaps from the previous customer. All in all, it was a quiet, relaxing hotel.

Quiet beachfront hotel
Hotel was conveniently located along the coast in Hakodate, a few KM away from the onsen resort town. Area around the hotel was a bit desolate and empty (you'll need to take a cab to get to the restaurants or back to the station), but the breakfast (Japanese style only) with a view of the beach and ocean was a nice way to start the day.
