This was a nightmarish experience for us, harassed, wasting an entire day trying to fix the mistake of the thoroughly incompetent staff. These people are unprofessional and should not be allowed to do business. Stay away at all costs. We booked through Expedia as a nonrefundable. First, the staff barely speaks English, we could hardly understand them. This was a problem given they feature in US hotel vendor websites. At check in, the receptionist told us all was good and that he did not need any information from us. He gave us the room key and did not do any paperwork or take our cc number. Later, in Guayaquil we got an email from the San Blas manager saying that the receptionist had made a mistake, that they had not received payment from Expedia, that they did not have facilities to charge using a credit card number so we should send them cash using her bank account. Even though we had given our info to Expedia, we agreed to help her out. Went to three different branches of the bank, but unable to find anyone who spoke English, we returned. Imagine our surprise when the front desk manager Marriott Guayaquil mentioned that the San Blas people had called telling them we had left without paying! This was AFTER the manager and we had agreed to work this out. Then we received several threatening and rude calls from the San Blas staff asking for our secure info. Wasted a whole day trying to make a payment due to staff error, finally got help from Marriott manager to deposit cash
