Base for sun or mountains
This is a small vertical hotel with a handful of units.
Out front, there's a pleasant lawn with large, old trees.
Parking on the street was no problem (in May).
The afternoon clerk was helpful and multi-lingual.
The kitchenette for my unit was in a cubby between room and bathroom.
It contained a fridge, sink, two-burner stove, cutlery, dishes, cups, small pot for tea, and a cutting board.
There wasn't another pot big enough to warm anything other than water.
So the clerk downstairs volunteered to use the cafe microwave for whatever I wanted to reheat.
The hotel was a short block from the beach.
There were lots of families in the area over the May 1 three-day weekend.
I was told that the whole area fills up in the summer.
It's a good base for day trips into Mt Olympus Park, which is a short drive (up).
(Check out the new information center at the start of the road to Prionia.)
One advantage Ifgenia has over others in Litochoro is weather.
Although I experienced rain and hail in Olympus, Ifgenia (at sea level) was sunny and warm that same afternoon.
Other things to see in the greater area were the Frankish castle and the pedestrian village of Palaios Panteleimonas.
